So I saw this on Pinterest and knew I had to try it. Fabulous idea for my Christmas gifts this year, but what an AMAZING idea for DIY wedding favors! You need just a few things that you might already have around your house to make this super scrumptious peppermint candy cane sugar scrub! You will need sugar, coconut oil (or almond oil), peppermint essential oil and a few drops of raspberry (or other) juice for coloring. This was super easy and super fun. I am constantly seeing “Pinterest Fails” posted on facebook which are hilarious and I’m totally not crafty so I thought for sure I would be able to submit this project to “Craft Fail” or some other such site, but alas… great success!!! So because I discovered this idea less than 2 weeks out from Christmas and I’ll be traveling to see family soon, I did not … Continue reading

Weddings on a Budget: Backyard Connecticut Wedding

necie-richard

Necie and Richard held their afternoon July wedding in the backyard of the bride’s childhood home in Connecticut. Centered around family and close friends with a guest list of 60 – it was the perfect backdrop for their intimate ceremony and reception. The bride’s two children played very special parts as ring bearer and flower girl, as well as participating in the ceremonial union by adding their own sand to the bride and groom’s “unity frame” – a symbol that they are now a united family. With a budget of $5,000 they incorporated in many super savvy budget saving ideas like getting their alcohol from Costco and having a friend DJ the reception. The gorgeous sunflowers were purchased as single stems and arranged by the bride and bridesmaid. They were also fortunate enough to get a fantastic deal on their photography through a friend. Dotted with personal touches throughout all … Continue reading
